hi,
The dell are the only ones, in my opinion, still a good middle way between an assembled and branded. certainly are much better than an acer, and they are certainly more "comfortable" in an assembled.

Re: Core 2 Q8200 Quad-Core or Core 2 Duo E7300

e5000 series (dual) = number q8000 (quad) (2x2MB cache)
e7000 series (dual) = number q9000 (quad) (3x3MB cache)
e8000 series (dual) = number q9050 (quad) (6x6MB cache)

the q8000 could be much better than the e8000 series, as it could be much worse. the cpu are all based on the same technology, same same, changing only "the amount of cache, frequency, bus (almost irrelevant) and the presence or absence of certain features. the quad core should be taken ONLY if you use heavy applications of rendering, video conversion, programs for calculating complex and strange, things like that where the code is very scalable by the number of processors because it is "easy" that things are parallel.
