Asus EAH4870 & Asus Maximus II

Help
I planned to rebuild two of my pc's over xmas - in crossfire config. So I went a purchased 4 EAH4870's. Due to a back problem I only completed one system 3 days ago and have spent the past few days trying to get crossfire to work. The motherboard is Asus Maximus II using Vista 32 bit. I have now tried all combinations of the 4 EAH4870's I have with no success. I have also tried reloading vista 3 times !! I have also tried the Asus driver CD 522 and the newer download 523 - no success. I have also tried ATi Catalysts 8.12, 8.10, 8.9, 8.8. None of which give me the crossfire tab !! I thought this stuff was plug and play !! I've had no problems getting my 2 Nvidia 8800GTX's to work in SLi mode.

Can anybody give me some pointers ?

have a similar situation....
I would like to know also ..I have 2 eah4870 cards and no crossfire is appearing....I am worried that one card may overheat as I cannot monitor its temp etc...Please tell me what you find out... I sat on ASUS tech support for 40 minutes last night just to be told to submit a querry (auto response) No one ever came on line...I have invested 700 bucks in these cards and I want an answer too.

Re: Asus EAH4870 & Asus Maximus II

I had success . I updated the Motherboard bios to 1901, rebooted with catalyst 8.8 installed and system immediately recognised the 2 4870's and provided crossfire options. I did not have time to update catalyst to 8.12 but will look at this tonight.
Hope this helps.
