| Phenom II and consumption: up to 70 watts less Finally a competitor for the Penryn? While it will take another week to know the new AMD Phenom II, some sites are beginning already to know some interesting details. Thus, Hardware News claims to have clocked a model X4 940 to 2.6 GHz, the frequency of a Phenom X4 9950 and that meant nothing less than 70 watts of consumption and more at the outlet, over, over the new model generation. At rest, the difference is 15 watts. It must be said that the Phenom recorded in 65 nm was known for his extreme gluttony energy remained one of its major defects. Overclocking later, our colleagues appear to have been able to climb to 3.4 GHz fairly simple and 3.65 GHz with a power increased by 0.1 volt. ![]() |

I agree the '1-year delay ", but a little competition is good. Regarding the current Core i7: no interest, I see this as a platform Processor professional (QPI), but in any case as a platform for individualsPending the Core i5 (since everyone took the name given by CPU-Z to cash ....) platform as the general public. [And also I expect the GT212 I would GT200 well as a slightly improved with reduced memory bus, but with the DDR5-like crossing the 8800GTS/GTX the 8800GTS. |

Even the Penryn consolidated, integrated memory controller. And that this beam. A year later, but much better in fact. |
