    2 x 512 ddr2 kingston 667 mhz ram+1gb ddr2 667 mhz kingston ram
    500 watt smps

i want to change the motherboard...suggest me one, which can support my current ram n processor n must hv pci-e x2 16x slot

my buget is atmost 5k OR probably less than 5k( heard biostar motehrboards r cheaper n reliable)

brand can be any but shud support atleast 4gb ram with ease n shud nt hv issues with using all rams together, as m planning to bug 2gb ram more in coming months

Intel motherboards are always good in performance. Not sure which is suitable for your amd athlon in terms of connection. You can refer the prices and choose 1 compatible to your amd athlon.

I won't go on with details...but my favourite is Abit. Best warranty, high quality long lasting, awesome website, support, manual, bios upgrades, fail safe quick reset on the bios, etc. I love Abit boards. Choose the one with the features and price you want.

Asus are a love or hate board so try to avoid. Asus warranty is bad, and I hate their unconventional bios layout. Gigabyte good, but way overpriced. I've always seen gigabytes not last, but while they worked they were wicked good. MSI very popular, good price, half decent, I hate their website and support. SOYO, EPOX, SHUttle are very reliable cheap boards. DFI and EVGA probably the only boards I'd consider next to ABIT. Chaintech, Biostar, ECS, etc... are known for making cheap boards...some of them are trying to compete with the bigger guys now.
