Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 problem

    I have the following configuration:

    Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-EP35-DS3
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E8400
Graphics Card: Nvidia GeForce 9800 GT 512 MB
    RAM: 2 x 1 GB
HDD: Samsung 320GB 7200-rpm SATA II
Power Supply Unit: 520W Corsair CMPSU HX520

After launching CPU-Z, I noticed that my processor varied at the "core speed" and the "multiply". I suspect that the decline in the Core Speed, is due to the declining multiply.

    My question: is this normal?

That's because you have energy (EIST) enabled in your bios! Just disable it in your bios!

Re: Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 problem

I do not changed anything because this type of functionality is new to me and was not in my older processor.

I tried installing the drivers for my motherboard (Gigabyte GA-EP35-DS3), in the device manager, but I have an SM bus with a yellow question mark.

Unable to find what was that need to install a driver. Could someone enlighten this?

Just download and reinstall the intel chipset driver, it will solve the problem.
