    4GB Kingston RAM shown as 3.2GB in Windows

    I bought a 4GB Kingston RAM and installed on ASUS P5Q PRO P45 Motherboard.

    My problem is that it is shown as only 3.2 GB in Windows. Is this normal? What can I do to increase the RAM?

    Quiet normal, and I bet you are using 32 bit operating system; whereas you can see the complete 4GB RAM in the bios.

    4 GB Ram shown as 3070 MB

    I read this article on Mac.

    What you mention is quite common on a 32 bit operating system. So in my opinion it is crazy to buy 4GB of RAM if you are getting only 200MB to use extra for it. Buy max 3GB.

    Also remember that every operating system have some limit, if you buy 64-bit operating system (lets say Vista) then there are still limits on how much RAM you can use.

    Home Basic = 8GB
    Home Premium = 16GB
    Business = 128GB

    However I don't know why Microsoft has set such limits.
