    Change CPU on Asus P5P800

    Hi, I need advice:
CPU Pentium IV 530 (Prescott 3.0 GHz), mounted on an Asus P5P800, it is broken and therefore must change. Since the FSB motherboard is 800 MHz I saw that the best that I can take is E4600. It is right?

    Thank you

PS: I can not change other components, only the cpu.

    Hello
these are the CPUs that supports your tab
    ASUSTeK Computer Inc. Support

Unfortunately, the 915 chipset does not support any DualCore of any kind, not even the first Pentium D but only single core CPU core with NetBurst as pentium 4 or Celeron D.

My card could also support the Cedar mill after updating the bios, you do not know... but certainly a processor with Core architecture is not supported to the limit, you'll want to spend some money and buy a motherboard including 945 low-end.

Thank you both for proper guidance and providing the CPU list supporting ASUS motherboards. I will have a look around.
