ASUS P5E motherboard problem

I have a problem with my motherboard: ASUS P5E.

So that when I enter in the hard disk, When I go in my record, I always has an hourglass that appears when I go in or that I take a step backwards. It does with me but 3 disk drives.

I tried to reinstall Windows XP on a hard disk, the other problem is still there.

I tried to change the CPU the problem is still there.

What please?

SATA is configured as IDE. What do you think its coming?

The chipset drivers are installed?

This is the thing which controls the SATA. If drivers are not installed, the ICH9R can not do its job at its full potential.

Otherwise, is it a legit version of XP? And have you install Linux?

Before saying that motherboard has a problem, always remove all other possibilities because it is rare for a motherboard to work when it is naturally defective.

Bah I install chipset drivers cd came with the purchase of the motherboard.

Yes it is an original license Windows XP Professional 32bits.

Have you done a full scan of your pc? May be your PC have a virus, when you said you reinstalled Windows XP, it was formatted or just restored the system?

Formatted, complete suppression of the partition and reinstalled. So the virus suspection is impossible because the operating system is clean.
