Help for new MoBo

This is the first time ive ever upgraded my computer and i need a little help. My friend was trying to help me and he said the motherboard i have now is like not compatible with either Ati or pci or something like that i cant remember but anyway he said the motherboard i have if i want a new video card ill have to get a new mobo. So im looking for some help on a new mobo and video card. Ive been lookin on tigerdirect and newegg and well i want to stay under 150 on the mobo and under 125 on the video card. And id prefer intel since i think thats what i have right now and someone told me that my cpu want work with a amd motherboard so yeh. thanks lol.

Well we can help you if you provide some information about your current hardware!
I mean your complete computer specification, so that it will be easy to guide you for your further up-gradation with new motherboard & Video Card if you really need to buy?
