Memory test

I have 2 sticks of ram 256mb & 512mb.
At the boot it shows "memory test failed" & m not able to install windows.
What is the reason for this? & what to do?

What you can do is try one stick at a time!
i think this way you can find out is a certain ram chip is faulty
Maybe a loose connection is the reason.

OK i will try that but can you tell me what dose "memory test fail" mean?
Is it true that this error is due insufficient RAM?
