My game shuts down every now and then

I am facing a strange problem from quiet a long time. Whenever I play any game, the game automatically shuts down. I upgraded my system by installing 1GB ram and video card but still the same problem. Some one told me that I am using to much paged pool memory but am just running the game. I think my cpu is week.

Please help me. I don't know what to do know. Did anyone faced this before?

Specs:

Windows XP Pro
1GB+256MB ram
Intel D875PBZLK mobo
Pentium 4 processor
GeForce 6600 Video Card

Get a new processor imo because Pentium processors are not a good one for atleast gaming. You can go for Core 2 Duo, Core 2 Quad, Amd Athlon etc

Is it happening to a particular game or to all games? Anyways try to download the latest drivers for your video card or other devices and latest patch for your game and check?

It happens also when I am working on any Word file or doing some other job other than playing games.

Same here. Whenever I try to play any game, almost every game crashes during start up. Did a couple of trial and errors but no luck. What I did is checked ram, upgraded graphics card to Nvidia GeForce 6600 GT, updated BIOS but all in vain.

Is this motherboard problem or something else?

System specs:
Gigabyte 8I915PL-G motherboard
1.5GB Ram (1GB + 512MB)
Intel Core 2 Duo E7200 overclocked to 3.3 Ghz
900W PSU
Nvidia GeForce 6600 GT

Could be ram or psu issue. Also there might be chance of unstable overclock causing this issue. Try to use some software to check whether your system is stable or not. Or better you can reset everything and see what happens.

I think that could be either ram or cpu itself is faulty. Borrow some different ram stick from your friend and check. If no go then try to use different processor.

I think its board issue. cause a couple of my friends got 915 boards which they had to change 3 times cause it would cause some problem or the other. try calling the shop where u bought it from to come and check out. otherwise if u can do it, borrow a diff board and try out ur things on it.
but sandesh really... u have a 900W PSU for a 45nm processor and just 6600GT card?? hihi it might be too much power for the power things to handle... [on funny side ]
