Is PC3200 RAM compatible with ASUS P4P800E

I am having ASUS P4P800E Deluxe motherboard on my system. Something went bad and the chip stopped working. So, I replaced my 512MB DDR2 SDRAM chip with 1GB DDR PC3200 RAM chip. Nothing, no picture on the monitor. I tried a different slot and but the same result.

I am thinking that my memory was not compatible. But want to confirm with you all. Please someone help me?

I think you might be having some faulty RAM? Get a stick of RAM and see if your computer works properly or not.

In general, some motherboards support either DDR or DDR2 but not both. So, I will recommend to get some new DDR2 RAM.
