why is my pc shutting down randomly?

Processor AMD 64 X2 4200
Motherboard Foxcon
Ram 2 x 1gb DDR2
400watt Power supply
Nvidia 7600GT video card

I am having problem with this pc. After two months it started shutting down continously when i was playing a particular game. When i restarted it the BIOS temp shown was 70c so i changed heatsink fan to Coolermaster. But after 1 hour of game playing it shut down again. So i just reset the BIOS to defaults. Now what is wierd is that BIOS is showing temp 15c above than what is shown in Everest? So i changed my graphic card to a PCI 32 mb card as it was a spare kept for years in my locker which seem to cure the problem but now the graphics seem to be very dirty. So is this a BIOS fault & i also checked that it was to the latest update. Now i am totally lost as what to do, can anyone help me out from this. Thanks

from what you say the 7600GT could be broke, or overheating


I think it is a problem with the 7600gt video card that might have been broken or perhaps overheating. Did you check this in another pc?

Yeah it seems that the video card is at fault or maybe the PCI-e slot? If you can put another card in that slot than you can find out what is culprit here.

Also as you stated that it is overheating you might want to check the psu as well. Did you check to see if the fans are rotating properly?
