Direct 3d & Ati 2600 Problem

I ran the DirectX Diagnostic Tool and tested Direct3D
- Direct3D 7 test results: Failure at step 8 (creating 3D device): HRESULT = 0x80004005 (Generic Failure)

- Direct3D 8 test results: Failure at step 8 (creating 3D device): HRESULT = 0x8876086c (error code)

- Direct3D 9 test results: Failure at step 8 (creating 3D device): HRESULT = 0x8876086c (error code)


We re-installed Direct3d drivers and also installed the old ati drivers but get a message 'Unable to find compatible hardware or software'.

i think the video card is faulty. is it under warranty?

Had same problem with Call of duty 4, even worse tbh.
I downloaded newest drivers and my brother gave me latest DiretX aswell. Everything works just fine after i installed those.
