| No display adaptor installed after a Vista to XP downgrade.
I have a new Acer Aspire E380 with AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ @ 2200 MHz. After 3 months of agony I recently downgraded it from Vista to XP because of endless problems I was having with application compatibility and jpg picture corruption over USB (another thread). Now I have a new problem. I cannot change my screen resolution and my pictures appear to be horizontally stretched on my LG widescreen LCD monitor. The video controllers in the device manager have yellow question marks indicating no drivers are installed. I am having difficulty finding an XP video driver that will work. I think I may have one of those new AMD video cards that are comparable to the ATI Radeon XT X1600. My biggest fear is that XP drivers may not exist for it? Dxdiag shows that the system is using the generic video driver and suggests to install video driver provided by the hardware manufacturer. Any ideas? |

Found it! The drivers are on an AMD site, not ATI: http://ati.amd.com/support/driver.html Thanks anyways, I am fully up and running now! |
