    Radeon R9 290 vs GTX 770 4GB graphics card

Firstly I am going to build a new computer primarily for gaming. So, I am considering to buy Asus Z87-A motherboard, Core i7-4770K, Corsair 750W PSU and 8GB RAM. Now I am looking to buy graphics card from either model numbers - GTX 770 4GB or Radeon R9 290. After reading the performance between these 2 cards I have found that AMD is appearing to be performing well. So will it be a good choice if I go with the Radeon R9 290 card? Thanks

R9 290 reference is too hot and loud, wait for non reference... And yes 290 is better than 770

By non-refrence what card are you suggesting me? Isnt the fan on this R9 290 card good enough to cool down the GPU at load? What is the normal temperature at idle one can expect? Do you have any other suggestions in the same range of video cards? Thanks

I meant this card can go as high as 95 degrees on load, wait for cards with twinfrozer or directcu coolers to arrive.

If you will check the reviews then you will know that GTX 770 is too slower than the Radeon R9 290. Also the 4gb version of the nvidia card is a little costlier, so buying it is senseless. If you want to consider going for a R9 290 crossfire than take a good case for handling noise issue and with your 750 watt power supply you wont face any issues even after overclocking the graphics card.

The Radeon R9 290 is way to faster than the GTX 770 4GB graphics card. There is a different competition altogether and with a custom cooler it can easily compete with GTX 780OC card when it is overclocked. You can also choose from different brands like Sapphire, MSI, Gigabyte or Asus R9 290. These all brands are very well known for producing the AMD cards.

I think that you should go with the GTX 770 4GB graphics card. Since I am a fan of Nvidia cards I will choose it over AMD anytime because I have found it to be more reliable and stable. It is correct to say that Radeon R9 290 card out performs GTX 770 but the 290 card has cooling issue if compared to GTX 770. If you want to good stable and fast video card then GTX 780 will be a good choice.
