black shadows while playing game with GTX 670

I recently purchased a second hand graphics card with GTX 670 for playing high end games. The graphics and fps are fine but in most of the games some background objects are surrounded by a black shadow effect. This doesnt happen with old games but only happens with the new games. Does this means this graphics card is not capable enough for high end games? Thanks

Can you tell us what output you are using, whether its Hdmi, Vga or Dvi? If you are using hdmi then try some other connection type because hdmi can sometime default to a limited range instead of full RGB. But the Nvidia drivers must recognize the monitor that can take full range over hdmi connection but there might be some design flow in the hdmi.

Have you tried to install the latest graphics driver version for your Nvidia card? Do you get any enhancement in the game after that, if not then probably it is the graphics card, which you bought second hand, might be defective. Try to run the game on DX 10 or DX9 and see if you get the same problem, or else get a friends video card and play the games at directx 11 to compare the difference.

What monitor you are using? I think that there might be some Contrast and Brightness settings that you need to change to get a decent gameplay experience. Try to drop the brightness to about half of the contrast and then test by playing the game in your computer. Do you see any difference in your gameplay now?
