    Dell ST2220L vs Dell ST2220M

Guys I am planning to get a new monitor for my system and according to my budget I have chosen Dell ST2220L and Dell ST2220M . Now the problem is that I am confused between both of them and I don’t know which one to go for, Can anyone help me understand difference between them so that I can make my final choice?

Frankly speaking I don’t see much difference between them, I have gone through their specification and the only difference that I have noticed is that Dell ST2220L doesn’t have usb port where as Dell ST2220M is having one. Other than this difference between their prices which is 500 RS should not matter much. I will suggest you to better go with Dell-ST2220M, since it is having usb port you can easily connect usb devices like mouse/keyboard, webcam rather than bending down and connecting them to cpu.

Even I was going to point that difference, you can connect usb devices like Mp3 player's , joysticks , webcams , handhelds ,Digital Cameras ,scanners ,printers ,mice and keyboards , cdwriters etc. I really think that it will be worth getting Dell-ST2220M by paying 500 RS extra, it really make sense.

Even my vote goes for Dell ST2220M, since it is having single usb port I think the best usb device to connect will be webcams. I mean you don’t have to make connection from top of your desk to cpu below. You can simply connect it to the monitor itself and since everyone keeps it stable i don't think that its connection will get any kind of disturbance.

I just wanted to add that usb ports on dell monitor are low powered ports which are intended for simple USB peripherals. You will have to connect your USB peripherals to monitor USB port after turning it off. You have to follow below simple steps for activating USB Ports on a Dell Monitor:
    • First turn the monitor off
    • Connect your USB peripheral using usb cable
    • Turn monitor on, while turning on your USB peripheral will automatically get detected. You don’t have to do any installation further.

If you will connect your USB peripheral with monitor turned on then it won’t get recognized, you must have to turn it off and then turn it on to get it working.

Everyone here has ignored one of the major factors between Dell ST2220L and Dell ST2220M , anyways I will like to inform you all that Dell ST2220L comes with 3 Years Warranty where as Dell ST2220M comes only with one. I think compromising usb support and 500 rs extra for 2 year warranty will be more worth. I have some usb monitors in my office and most of us don’t use it. I personally don’t like wires running on my desk, so I will suggest you to go for Dell ST2220L.
