| Re: Unsupported Video Format error with Philips 42PFL9803H
I think there might something wrong with your DVD player and not with Philips 42PFL9803H. To confirm the same you can try out using some other DVD player and check out if that’s working without any such error. You can also try changing the HDMI setup from Auto to specific on the DVD player. There might be different formats like 1080p, 1080i,720p and 576p, so you can try swapping between them and find out if any specific format is working or not. Just try out these things and let me know if the issue is getting solved or not. If not then I will try to help you out with other possible solutions. |

I wanted to know which player you are using with your Philips 42PFL9803H?? Which is the format of the video that you are trying to play?? Make sure that there is no copyright protection issue. If these solutions are not helping then try using some other HDMI cable to narrow down the cause of the issue. Check out these things and post back the response you get so that I can have better idea about the issue you are facing and will try to help you with some other effective solution. |

@ HafizaAhmed – I have tried using other DVD player with Philips 42PFL9803H but unfortunately I am getting the same error message. Luckily after your suggestion I have tried swapping between the specific formats and have found that amongst 1080p, 1080i,720p and 576p, 576p is playing the video but I am not able to play the same on 1080p/1080i/720p. Playing the video on 576p is not appearing good. @ddj- I am using a Philips DVP DVD player, the video format is DivX. Currently I am not having other HDMI cable but I will arrange it soon and will let you both know if that makes any difference in my case. |

Since you have mentioned that you are able to play the video on 576p I think that your Philips DVP DVD player might be having 576x720 as maximum resolution for DivX movies. If that true then you will have to convert the DivX movie into 576x720 or lower resolution. Give it a try and let me know if that’s helping. |

| Re: Unsupported Video Format error with Philips 42PFL9803H
I have tried using the same player with my other tv using same HDMI cable and I am not getting any error like this there, no matter if I am playing with formats like 1080p, 1080i,720p and 576p. The error comes up only when I am using my Philips DVP DVD player with Philips 42PFL9803H. So I don’t think that my Philips DVP DVD player is having 576x720 as maximum resolution for DivX movies. I don’t know what the issue all about is and I am just running out of ideas, I mean when the same dvd player is working out with other tv on 1080p, 1080i, 720p and 576p then why not on Philips 42PFL9803H??? I don’t know why but I am getting the feeling that there is something wrong with the Philips 42PFL9803H now. Is there anyone using Philips 42PFL9803H and has any idea about this issue???? Further help regarding the same will be highly appreciated. |

| Re: Unsupported Video Format error with Philips 42PFL9803H
I have checked about the same and have found that this is not an issue with Philips 42PFL9803H nor with your Philips DVP DVD player but it is with HDMI cable. You might be using a standard hdmi cable between your Philips 42PFL9803H and Philips DVP DVD player right??? If it is so then I will like to inform you that it will work for some tv’s but for Philips 42PFL9803H you need to have a HDMI version 1.3 compliant cable. Using this I don’t think you should get the same error no matter on what resolution you play the DivX movies. So just get a HDMI version 1.3 compliant cable and let us know if the issue is getting solved using that. |
