Ati 7950 3GB or Nvidia GTX 580 1.5GB graphics card

My system specification are as followed:
    • Main board: Asus P8P67 Pro
    • Memory: 2x 4GB G.Skill RipJawsX
    • Video card: GTX 480
    • Soundcard: X-Fi + Sony 2400ES
    • PSU: Corsair AX850

Actually I am willing to upgrade the graphic card now and after narrowing down my choices as per the need and my budget I am having Ati 7950 3GB and Nvidia GTX 580 1.5GB as my option but then I am highly confused between them. I mean they both are good but then I am not able to make out which one will perform better in my system, so is there anyone who can help me out in choosing the best one for me eliminating the confusion in my mind. Any suggestions regarding this will be highly appreciative. Thanks in advance.

See in that case I think that the Ati 7950 will be giving same performance as compared to that of Nvidia GTX 580 but the Ati 7950 will be better as far as power consumption, temperature & noise is concerned, the 7950 is just offering cutting edge features with better power consumption characteristics and performance. I also wanted to share that I have checked out some site and their Metro 2033 benchmarks has outperformed GTX 580 and even I think that the 7950 will be beating the 580. Compared to GTX 580 the 7950 is having twice the frame buffer capacity which will be good for higher resolutions. As far as the overall HD 7950 is concerned I think that it is an excellent graphics card, better gaming power, impressive stock performance and better overclocking capabilities.

Even I think that the AMD Radeon HD 7950 will be a better choice in your case. To get a better idea of the video card you can go through the short overview of the same:
    • The AMD Radeon HD 7950 is said to be a revolutionary GPU: the 28nm GCN Architecture Ready for DirectX 11. PCI Express 3.0
    • It is the next generation of AMD Eyefinity technology and comes with support for stereo 3D, universal bezel compensation along with latest display configurations.
    • It comes up with new PCI Express 3.0 standard along with AMD CrossFire technology and has multi-GPU configurations. The AMD PowerTune technology will provide better clocks as well as faster gaming. The card is set for quad HD having full support for HDM and DisplayPort 1.2 HBR2.

Re: Ati 7950 3GB or Nvidia GTX 580 1.5GB graphics card

I think that Nvidia GTX 580 1.5GB graphics card will be a better choice. Sources say that GTX580 is the fastest single GPU graphics card by now, it is a successor to the GTX 480 and it is now available with full amount of CUDA cores. It offers higher clock frequencies, Shader clock, memory clock frequencies. Due to its quieter design the card does not run hotter and will perform much better and cooler as compared to GTX 480 under load. The GTX 580 is said to be an ultra-enthusiast product for delivering the requisite horsepower. Depending on the benchmark GTX 580 has outperform GTX 480 by 20 percent as far as the overall performance is concerned.

If it is about single GPU then GTX 580 can be 30% faster than AMD's current flagship. It can also win over dual-GPU Radeon HD 5970 as well and not just against single-GPU competitors in the market. With its release of Nvidia GTX 580 the NVIDIA is continuing to dominate in the world of the high-end GPU. If you are looking out for the fastest and the best high performance graphic card then GTX 580 will simply be the best choice and you won’t have any regret on your decision further. It is just not the fastest gpu it is the fastest DX11 GPU on the planet.
