AMD Radeon HD 6870 vs AMD Radeon HD 7770

I am happy that I am having the 7xxx series card but on the other hand, I think that AMD Radeon HD 6870 is also good option to consider for someone who don’t want to get the AMD Radeon HD 7770. Now my brother also want to buy one card but he don’t want to pay extra for AMD Radeon HD 7770. Can somebody suggest that which one of these two is better to be considered?

If you have low budget then you can surely go for AMD Radeon HD 6870 but I can tell you that you will not get the performance upto the level of AMD Radeon HD 7770. It is very close to the AMD Radeon HD 7770 but not matching the performance.

Radeon HD 6870 and Radeon HD 6850 predecessor chip (Radeon HD 5800) is created in 40-nm process. The AMD Radeon HD 6850 achieved in all test frame rates of well over 40 frames per second and is fully-compatible games for widescreen monitors up to a resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels. The AMD Radeon HD 6870 has five video outputs: two mini-display port (version 1.2), and DVI and even HDMI (version 1.4a). Maximum six screens can be connected simultaneously with it. The AMD Radeon HD 6870 is an additional power supply dependent, which takes place over two 6-pin PCI Express power connectors. The reference graphics card also has one CrossFire connector for composite video cards.

The AMD Radeon HD 6870 and built for the performance showed a relatively moderate power consumption of the day. The power consumption (entire test platform) in desktop mode was 122 watts, down even to the consumption of four watts at 6850 reference card.

The Radeon HD 6870 is the big brother of the Radeon HD 6850 and based on all 1120 Barts GPU with shader units enabled. In 6850, there are only 960 of the mini-cores is activated. In 6870 the standard clock frequencies are also higher: 900 MHz for the GPU and 1050 MHz for the GDDR5.

My recommendation to you is to use the AMD Radeon HD 7770. I am using the same and that is giving me the best performance. I have never used the AMD Radeon HD 6870 but I am sure for the 7770 that it will never disappoint you with the performance.
