Should i switch to 1600p IPS Panel?

Currently I am having 3 Dell U2312HM 23" IPS panels at 1080p mainly for gaming purpose and I really love them in eyefinity. Let me tell you that I am a gamer and I love having high quality monitors. Initially I was thinking to go for 120hz but however my gaming is going to be majorly concentrated on slower paced games like Guild Wars 2 and Diablo III so therefore I decided to go for IPS monitors.

And here I am really very much confused with the IPS monitor. There are two options going around in my mind one is 1440p and second one is 1600p. I think 1600p would be really good for extra screen space but still I guess I need your help in choosing the right one. Should I really go for 1600p IPS Panel?

Look if you are into some serious gaming activity and if you have enough money with you then you can surely go for 1600p panel. There are few with low input lags and quite nice computer connection support which can easily blow away the 30” monitor. That’s what I can say in your case.

Let me tell you that there are 30” displays that lag in contract once if compared to the current display which you have and also they are likely to have worst color presets. IPS Panel are obviously going to have a glow all over, if you are really concerned about size and extra resolution you can go for 1600p Panel. If you compare all the 30” Panels with u2312s except for Zr30w you will see that they have noticeable input lag.

Another thing I would like to tell you is that you wont be able to notice the real benefit of the extra resolution until and unless you sit 2 feet away from your display.

I would simply go for Dell 3011. There are many 30” cheaper screens that have no such actual menu to control the color settings, also you won’t find any scalar also often they only works with computers. As if you see 27" 1440p, they have the strongest and the most aggressive anti glare coating of any LCD monitor. If compare 30” and 27”, 30” is nice and quite strong but not as much as 27”. You can also go for a 27” Apple monitor but that would result like a reflective mirror.

I really appreciate your suggestion and replies. I would like to tell you that I generally always sit 1.5 to 2 feet always from the screen.

So according to you a bit smaller monitor would be far better than a 30” monitor I guess? If so then is it possible to go for 1600p at a lower size at 25” to 27” or should I just stick with a high quality 24” display.

If you really sit that much of closer to the display than 30” would be much bigger to you. Anyways other than this I would suggest you not to waste your money on a 30” display as a 30” always have a worst contrast. Not just this it also has higher input lag and worst response times as compared to those u2312 displays. There is only 27" display that are 1440p and 30" display that are 1600p. I don’t think there might be ay 120hz IPS Panel for next long time at any of the desired size. Better you go and buy a 120hz display from any retailer shop, make sure that you buy it in a free exchange policy so that you can simply give 120hz a try and if you don’t like it just replace it with something else.
