Hello friends, below is the specification for my system that I am using:
    Motherboard :
    • GFX: GeForce 8400 GS
    • RAM: 4 GB
    • Processor: AMD Athlon II X2 250 3.0 GHz
    • OS: Win7Ult 64-bit

Can someone over here can recommend me any good replacement for this. I was searching for the same on web but there were a lot of results and I got confused. So I am posting here. If someone of you can help me with some replies then I will be really thankful for that.

I think that the GeForce GTX 550 Ti will be better option for you. it can support mixed density memory chips. This means that the GeForce GTX 550 can be equipped with 1 GB of RAM, unlike the previous 192-bit card with three 64-bit memory partitions limited to 3 x 256 MB (768 MB, not enough to be optimal) or 3 x 512 MB (1.5 GB, too expensive for a card that must be convenient).

You can also consider to have the GeForce GTS 450. The GeForce GTS 450 will DirectX 11 features, support Physx and 3D Vision in the mainstream area. we measure power consumption (even in multi-monitor mode) and loudness (Sone) of the Geforce GTS 450 and conclusion is that this to the direct competitors of the HD 5700-series.

Nvidia continues to decline range DirectX 11 graphics cards. After the very successful GeForce GTX 460. The GeForce GTS 450 is based on a chip GF106. This GPU GF106 is a variation of the Fermi architecture and supports DirectX 11, its design is close to the GF104 (GTX 460) except that it uses a single GPC (Graphics Processing Cluster) instead of two on the GF106 (and on the GF100 four of 470/480).

The GeForce GTS 450 have a memory bus of 128 bits and should only embark on most models, 1GB of GDDR5. The chip is engraved in 40nm by TSMC and has 1.17 billion transistors. The operating frequencies are 783 MHz to 1566 MHz and the chip for stream processors.

The GTS 450 is having the advantages of GPU PhysX and 3D Vision card but the lack of power to really enjoy it, so it is advisable to make the effort for a GeForce GTX 460. This is just an advice, final selection is upto you.

At first glance it seems that the GeForce GTX 460 768 MB is powered by the same core GF104. It features 336 stream processors and recorded exactly the same 675/1350 MHz only when you take a closer look we see that the real difference is in the memory department. The main dissimilarity is in the configuration of the memory controller as well as RBE subsystem.

So it looks like Nvidia GeForce GTX 460 768 MB joins this fight with one hand tied behind its back. This is probably not good after the recent falls in prices of the new NVIDIA GF104 because this has to compete with an imposing Radeon HD 5830 and Radeon HD 6850.

I am not posting to give you some suggestion for the graphic card but just wanted to tell you that before going to get any card, please ensure that it is compatible with the system you are using otherwise it will be just waste for you.

The best that I can recommend you is the GeForce GTS 450 card. This is the best to use and it will better replace your existing GeForce 8400 GS. so just go for this and I am sure that you will like it too.
