ATI Radeon HD 4850 versus AMD Radeon HD 7750

I am researching for some days now about which graphic card should I purchase. I am about to buy a new graphic card for my PC and I want one which is faster as well as quieter. I found many graphic cards but the best graphic cards that provided both, speed and less noise were only two; ATI Radeon HD 4850 and AMD Radeon HD 7750. Can anyone who has used these graphic cards tell me I should buy any of this? I would like to know which among these both is best.

re: ATI Radeon HD 4850 versus AMD Radeon HD 7750

I have worked on both the graphic cards and I tell you that there is not much difference in performance of both graphic cards. The difference is also unnoticeable. The only big difference is in the level of power consumption. AMD Radeon HD 7750 consumes very less power when compared to ATI Radeon HD 4850. It is like ATI Radeon HD 4850 consumes 4 times more power than the other. Also the power management of ATI Radeon HD 4850 is way better than ATI Radeon HD 4850. When in idle mode, the power consumed by ATI Radeon HD 4850 is almost same when it is working on a process. While the other one, properly optimizes the power consumption by decreasing the requirement in idle mode while increasing when needed.

AMD Radeon HD 7750 is somewhat 15% faster than ATI Radeon HD 4850. If you will be using your computer for gaming then AMD Radeon HD 7750 is recommended. It controls the noise of the graphic card very well. Also the heat generated is less as compared to the other one. I use it for gaming and while playing game like Battlefield 3 for 30 minutes, the temperature is maintained at 600C. Even after providing such a good cooling, you won’t hear much noise from its fan.

re: ATI Radeon HD 4850 versus AMD Radeon HD 7750

AMD Radeon HD 7750 faces only one big problem. It faces problem of memory leak. After using this graphic card for more than a year, it will start showing signs of memory leakage. You will find that once you start a game and play for a couple of hours and then if you close the game, the video memory is not released from its cache. If you start another game, it will not work properly or show you error regarding insufficient memory. So if you are looking for a card for a long run, then you can use ATI Radeon HD 4850.

re: ATI Radeon HD 4850 versus AMD Radeon HD 7750

If you are a hardcore gamer then the graphic card that you use must not optimize the memory available for use. Games require to access memory often and if memory is continuously optimized, then game won’t find free space that it may have reserved for further use. ATI Radeon HD 4850 is one such graphic card that optimizes memory space. So it is not useful for gaming. Many high level games won’t work efficiently when played on this graphic card. Due to its memory optimization function, ATI Radeon HD 4850 has proved to be useful for commercial purposes.

The best thing that I found about AMD Radeon HD 7750 is its connections. I t does not require extra power cables. It works fine only using single power cable. This shows that it is good for power saving.

re: ATI Radeon HD 4850 versus AMD Radeon HD 7750

AMD Radeon HD 7750 is a single slot graphic card. Single slot graphic cards have a good history of being good in cooling itself. They do not require an extra cooling system and the heat released by them is also less. I too use an AMD Radeon HD 7750 in my PC and run most of the games on resolution of 1280X1024. I also have VSync enabled. This graphic card runs games smoothly without any drop in framerate. As per my experience, if you are keen on buying an AMD graphic card for gaming, then AMD Radeon HD 7750 is one of the best.

re: ATI Radeon HD 4850 versus AMD Radeon HD 7750

ATI Radeon HD 4850 works better than the other one when overclocked. But overclocking ATI Radeon HD 4850 reduces its life and might create issues regarding its stability. So I say that AMD Radeon HD 7750 is better than ATI Radeon HD 4850.
