Nvidia Geforce GTX 550Ti drivers crash

I purchased Nvidia Geforce GTX 550Ti recently and used it for gaming using the SLI technology. It worked fine for 3 months but after that I realized that games are running on higher framerate than expected. After some days, whenever I used to press alt+tab to switch applications, I used to get an error message saying that Graphic drivers have crashed. I updated drivers in my system but it didn’t help. So I freshly installed all the drivers again but the problem persisted. But now, whenever I start any application, especially games that require graphic card, my screen goes black for few seconds and game crashes. I don’t know what is happening can anybody help me sort this problem?

You can try reverting your graphic card back to the stock settings. Many times the graphic card that you purchase is already overclocked. I had a Gigabyte GTX 470 which was overclocked before I even started using it and it gave me error similar to what you are describing. You can decrease the clock sped of your overclocked graphic card to reduce the framerate. If you are unable to find this option, then you can use MSI afterburner to tune the graphic card as you wish.
