AMD Radeon HD 7970 3DMark 11 scores are slightly lower as compared to others

This is my new Radeon HD 7970. Several people already tried this and in online I have see several benchmark result. For this graphics card I have seen scores of 7700+ using 3DMark 11 with the reference clocks but in my case when I test the same card with same benchmark tool I didn’t quite reach the 7400 mark. Approximately I am getting only around 7380. I don’t know how those guys getting 400 more points than me. I hope it doesn’t matter if it is a different brand. My system running AMD 1090t 6-core overclocked at 4 GHz. I didn’t see anyone’s score below my point. Do you think that the processor does affect the benchmark results of Graphics card? If it is not about the CPU, then what else?

In my case an HD 7970 is not overclocked and score is around 9000 points in 3DMark 11. If you overclock the card with its original BIOS via the Control Center drivers for AMD, we can expect a maximum of 1125 MHz core and 1575 MHz memory.

The AMD Radeon HD 7970 is currently the fastest single-GPU graphics card on the market. To see how the GPU performs really firing a set of benchmarks we wonder what the sales performance against our database. All cards are tested under the same conditions. In addition, made use of the same test system with the exception of the mobile video card. With default values, the HD 7970 scored almost 1200 points more than the younger brother. Compared to the GTX 580, the former single-GPU king, the HD 7970 nearly 2800 points more. A decent performance.

All in all, the HD 7970 is clearly a signal to be the best single-GPU area. The Next-Graphics Core by AMD architecture has many advantages over the competition and previous series. Single or multiple dual-GPU graphics cards in SLI / CrossfireX can even surpass the HD 7970.

In my case the two synthetic benchmarks were also very good: 3D Mark 11 is among the promising Extreme presets (at 1920 x 1080 pixels) to a high score of 2669. In Heaven benchmark from Unigine in version 2.5 with the Radeon 7970 achieved an average frame rate is switch tessellation of 62.9 for the full HD resolution. DirectX 10 got something more, namely 79 images / s. The extensive graphics test of 3DMark Vantage supplied from a high score of 22 863 points. Here computing power of the processor involved.

Do you want to maximize the 3DMark11 scores obtained with the Radeon HD 7970, and then you need a different setting in the Catalyst Control Center to adjust. Go to Gaming, then to 3D Application Settings, then scroll down to the cup Tesselation. Option AMD Optimized is checked by default, but by turning it off and the Level slider all the way to the left, you get just a little higher 3DMark11 scores.

We got to work with a system based on an Intel Core i7 3960X, an ASUS Rampage Formula IV motherboard and 16 GB Corsair DDR3-1600 memory. Since 3DMark scores depend not just on the video card but the processor, we have the 3960X overclocked to 4.8 GHz. The setup with two video cards finally accelerated to a 5.0 GHz overclocked to use Core i7 3930K. The separate reference card we got the GPU clock frequency increased from 925 MHz up to 1230 MHz, about a third faster so! The memory clock frequency, there was also a lot of space: we went from 1375 MHz to 1700 MHz: a small 25% so there. Eventually this resulted in a 3DMark Vantage score of 43085 points and a 3DMark11 score of 11685 points, as shown in this user system.

AMD takes its masterpiece on the market and thus depends on the competition at this stage. The internal architecture of the 7900 series is reflected in the Radeon HD 7970 in a high-end performance that is second to none. 3DMark 11 Setting Performance: 7579 points, setting Extreme: 2687 points, this graphics card is ahead of all other models.
