The Radeon HD 7800-series based on the so-called Pitcairn GPU, which is manufactured in a modern 28-nm process at TSMC. The calculation engine uses the new graphics core next-architecture and consists of 2.8 billion transistors, which are housed on a chip with a size of 212 mm ². As with the Radeon HD 7700-series is: For the features it has been compared to the high-end series no sections, only the number of execution units has been reduced.

Both 7800 versions differ only slightly. While the HD 7870 brings tinkers with a gigahertz is the smaller HD 7850 at 860 MHz, both devices use two gigabytes of GDDR5 memory. Also, the clock is identical between the graphics chip and memory: this is at 1.2 GHz to very rapidly. On the HD 7870 a enormous 1280 stream processors make for a smooth image playback, the HD 7850 is only 1,024.

Re: Need information on AMD Radeon HD 7870 & Radeon HD 7850

AMD's Radeon HD 7870 delivered at current DirectX 11 games such as "LA Noire" 57 frames per second, with DirectX 10 games, there were 59 frames per second - are very good values for smooth image reproduction (from 40 frames per second ). This is the HD 7870 is slightly slower than the GTX 570, but significantly faster than the GTX 560 Ti

Even the minor 7850 hit amazingly well and achieved exactly the speed of the GTX 560 Ti: DirectX 10 games, she presented with an average of 53 frames per second, with DirectX 11 titles there were 49 frames per second. The cost to launch the new card: AMD Radeon HD 7850 is estimated to around 250 €, the Radeon HD 7870 will cost 350 € 100 € more lush.

Re: Need information on AMD Radeon HD 7870 & Radeon HD 7850

The 7850 is among the most economical cards on the market, and consumes about 10W at full load in less than 6850; identical values for 7870, despite the increase in performance, is much less insatiable of 6870. Surprising results come from the front instead of the temperature: where sinks Tahiti and Cape Verde, although for different reasons, had not shone, those designed to Pitcairn play an exemplary job, allowing two cards to stay on the 30 ° C in idle and widely below 70 ° C at full load. Very good acoustic performance also improved significantly those of 6870 and 6850. Back to Contents

the Radeon 7870 is listed on average 360 euros a price really too much to be able to advise anyone who would venture to upgrade their graphics subsystem. For just 20 euros (low) is more expensive but it can buy up to 7950 which provides much higher performance, while even saving something you can bring home the current flagship of Nvidia, which is the GTX 580 that still behaves very well in Most of the tests. The price of 7850 is 260 euros

Well I like to suggest that, for the moment you buy the GeForce GTX 570 paying out about 20% less, and having a higher average performance against a few percentage points. This cards currently too expensive. AMD Radeon HD 7870 and 7850

Re: Need information on AMD Radeon HD 7870 & Radeon HD 7850

The performance of the Radeon HD 7870 and HD GHz Edition 7850 can be described as successful. AMD's self-proclaimed opponents . the GeForce GTX 570 and GTX 560 Ti, the PCGH index but does not quite reach, the graphics card partners will bridge that gap, but certainly with OC models. The AMD also promoted in the press materials, "time to upgrade" for owners of two (half) year old Radeon HD 5870 to HD 7870, we see also critical. While the HD 7800 without a doubt the superior product and may be in terms of feature set, power consumption and noise level of the HD distance 5800, but the game performance at the PCGH index sets straight again by 8 percent (HD 7870 vs. 5870) to the HD 7850 may depend on the HD 5850 at least 11 percent.

the HD 7870 is almost always ahead of the GTX 570 and HD 6970 in the benches that saw . Why should not then be achieved in the index?

There are more benches to be considered? Probably possible in the print edition?

Because when I look at your test benches in the online , I cannot understand that.
