Can NVidia GeForce 8400M GS play 1080p movies?

I am having a dell xps m1530 with 2gb of ram and it is having a dual core 1.83 processors and NVidia GeForce 8400M GS graphic card but then I am not able to play 1080p movies, I have tried using a no of media player like the windows media player and vlc player but then the video lags a lot and the sound appears to be delayed as well, what might be the cause of this?? Can I get it to play 1080p movies without any issues??

I have checked out for the same and I have found that a system with 1.6Ghz Dual core and Intel Extreme Graphics can Play 1080p movies, where as you are having better than that, anyways I have found this to be working:
Get CoreAVC ad you can get a trial version of the same and after that just get Media Player Classic and after that just play the HD files in Media player Classic and then you should not face any issues with 720p, 1080p Video files, later you can get the paid version of it as well.

You can try out the above but then I just wanted to share that I have been using 8400GS and I am able to play 1080p without any issues, actually I have been using super-slow Atom 330 CPU to playback 1080p smoothly, just make sure that you are having Nvidia drivers up to date.
