Dell UltraSharp 3007WFP 30-inch does not show High resolution

I have Dual Link DVI-D cable for Dell UltraSharp 3007WFP and Dual Link DVI-I for VisionTek Radeon 1GB 4650 DMS59 PCIe graphics card. I have configured this on Optiplex 960 SFF which is running Windows 7. The process is Core 2 Duo. The problem is VisionTek Pro identifies the monitor as a generic PNP Monitor. So due to this I cannot show HD.

I have installed the VisionTek drivers and Catalyst Control center but both of them report that DELL 3007WFP max resolution is only 1280 by 800 (60 Hz refresh rate).

I am seeking for higher resolution now. How can I get this?

As far as I know that DMS-59 is dual DVI but it doesn’t mean that it dual Dual-Link DVI. Keep in mind that both are different. The DMS-59 connector a single plugs where you can mutually connect two analog and two digital signals. This connector is helpful when there is single graphics card which has two outputs. The problem is the current cable actually outputs is single-link DVI-I.This connection will limit you to somewhat-over-1080 resolution (1920x1200). However if you are limited to 1280x, then it means there is problem with display adapter and the driver or whatever about the monitor. Try to configure the custom resolution in CCC that can match the monitor resolution.

You have a very good hardware combination and I assume it should work. HDCP (High Bandwidth Digital Content Protection) protecta audio and video content and there is no way it can block the native. So there is should not be any HDCP-compliant. Did you try the different cable in order to check?

It seems your chipset drivers are outdated and you will need newest version. Make sure to download the latest version of Catalyst drivers from AMD. To update, just go into the Device Manager and choose "Update Driver” under Monitor section. After that try to set the resolution once again. If still the same issue, then I urge you to contact a good technician to configure your computer properly from the scratch once again.

The graphics card should be able to displaying the maximum the monitor can do. When display driver is not properly then you typically get the 1280 X 800 resolution. As someone already told that this Graphics card uses DMS-59 (I'm guessing because it's a low-profile card). DMS-59 does not carry any resolution beyond that of single-link DVI.

    DMS-59 is a single-link DVI-I signal sets packed into a single 59-pin connector.

I had problem with monitor's refresh rate. I don’t know how but it somehow got set to 200 Hz refresh rate. So I changed it back to 60 Hz refresh rate and it fixed the problem. When the monitor was in refresh rate 200 Hz, it never went over 1024x768. After setting down it to 60 Hz, the monitor shows me to 1920x1200.

I had the same issue and for that reason I have contacted the Dell representative. Actually I am using the 3008WFP 30" monitor. The Dell representative told me that there is a problem with a few models and the problem is about NVidia drivers and the chipset on their models. Due to this problem the HDCP will not work and does not get to 2560x1600 resolutions. I can only get 1920x1080 resolutions, sometimes even low. I hope that the Dell had already fixed this problem.

The Dell engineers confirmed that there is a problem with aspect ratio. The problem is your monitor does not able to maintain the correct aspect ratio when it is connected in the DVI-D mode. If you set the monitor to 1920x1080 resolutions, it translates to a 16:9 aspect ratio. But whenever I set it, the monitor will mysteriously switch to 4:3 aspect ratio but it did not change the 1920x1080 resolution. To correct this you have to cycle multiple times.

This issue is already known by the Dell and they surely have a fix for this. MY friend told me that, he had same problem when he is using this monitor. So he sends the monitor back to the Dell and they claimed him that they will. He told me that the issue was corrected then but I didn’t check after it. In your case if the problem is not about the chipset, then it could be the graphics card. Because cables does not interfere with the resolution values.

I am using the 8800GT's in my computer and it has only HDCP over a single DVI link (max 1600x1200)and for 2560x1600 you will need bandwidth of dual-link DVI.
