Battlefield 3 usage low gpu with 2 x GeForce GTX 580 SLI

Hello friends, I have founded that the low gpu usage out of my 2 evga grforce gtx 580s on BF3. It takes something around 40 - 60% on both of the card for every game with maximum 1920x1080 120hz, i am getting around 80-100fps in fairly open areas without having much going on, during the time of heavy firefights then it falls to 30-50. It is not bee seen to be cpu bottleneck whereas i am able to run 3dmark and get 99% out of each card and which is on i7 920 @ 4.0. I am already done nvcp settings setup for game, so what should i do. Please suggest me. Thank you.

I have also got the same issue with Dual GTX 580 Classified setup, where it was taking 50-60% during the playing the same game. I am not having the bottleneck. I am having very poor optimization for SLI, so to hold i have done the Vsync which can hold my frames to 60 and keep the heat on the cards.

If you are using the vsync then it the reason which is using your GPU. if you are not using then you will experiencing low gpu usage in that particular game, there is been a bottleneck somewhere, you need to check it. Whereas i am having the 2 x 580s and has not seen frames dropped down that much low which you are getting it. I using it with i7 960 @ 4.2 and playing at 1600p. Even it can be the problem of the network, if you are trying to play multiplayer, so you can check the connection to your network.

I am finding the problem very much strange, as i am also having 580 Classy's SLI and i running the battlefield @ 200 FPS with 1600x1200 ultra high detail can been seen with fraps, so it should be problem with your card also.

I am not using vsync and also not tried to check the single player mode, whereas i was noticing this from a long time. I have plugged directly to my router which is been connected directly to cable modem.

Then network should be not the problem for you, wanted to know what are setting you have done, are you using ULTRA texture setting / and MSAA? If you are any of those setting then it will takes a lot of the memory and also causing low gpu usage, this what i feel and it has happen with when i was using the 480s 1.5gb. I would suggest that you try to switch to high for texture setting, if you do that then you remember that it will degrade the image quality and also try to switch to 2 x AA or OFF, where the continuously will post for processing AA.

I have set everything to ultra with 4 x AA and there is no post processing, but it makes everything blurry to look at. I will try it when i will play the game next time. Whereas i have founded that on 4xAA to the post processing it shows more crisp looking image, it might be that i have mess with those things. I was thinking to do the upgrades of my system once i have some money to spend. Will be try to replace the 1.5GB card with 3 GB or going to 2600K setup. But i am not sure which will be the best and also proper for my system.

The setting which you have done then it is the reason which is been taking so much of memory of your card and also lack of video memory, so you need to changes those setting and make it work it out.

You can try the EVGA Precision tool, just need to run it and enable the screen display, then after that you set the monitor for gpu temp and memory usage. I am running the 3 x EVGA GTX570 HD and it is of 2560 MB version with the single monitor and all the details are been fixed to ultra 4x MSAA. I have seen that the 1900MB of memory has been used in 1920x1200 resolution during the big maps like Caspian border. At present i am running the 5760x1200 triple monitor having all low / medium to achieve a stable 60 fps, where gpu usage is around 70-90% on all 3 cards.

I am also using to check the check gpu load/temps and next to 1400-1450mb of vram usage at the 1920x1080 resolution, which has turned the quality of texture to high and and also it made smooth, but i will be going for the 3 GB card in some week and will play on that.

If you are getting 70 - 90 % usage on all the three card then that does not indicate poor 3-way SLI optimization, then it is been as said as opposite, it is the best 3-way SLI optimization.
