Difference between GTX 550 TI 2GB and GTX 260

Just purchased a new EVGA GTX 550ti 2gb. I bought this because i am looking forward to replace my under-clocked GTX 260 1792mb on Dell xps435t. Should i get vast amount of improvements while replacing? The GTX 260 capable to play BF3 at ~30-40fps even on medium settings. How much can i get with the new card? Does it going to fit my motherboard?
