What to do if there is abnormal or no sound on Samsung LED TV

There might be several reasons why you are experiencing sound problems:
    • Perform the sound test by playing a built-in melody sound through the TV. Before performing the sound test, make sure Speaker Select is set to TV speaker in the Sound menu. The melody will be heard during the test even if Speaker Select is set to External Speaker or the sound is muted.

    • If you can hear the sound during the sound test but you are receiving abnormal or no sound when using an external device connected to your TV, check the connectors.

    • Over-modulated audio settings may cause a sound problem. If the sound is distorted, buzzing or squeaky when playing audio files, adjust the Equalizer and SRS TruSurround HD in the Sound menu.

    • If none of the above helps, try restoring the current sound settings to the factory defaults by going to Sound Reset.

    1. Performing the sound test:

    • To perform the sound test, please follow the steps below.

    • Press the MENU button on the remote control to display the menu.

    • Go to the Support menu by using the Up / Down arrow buttons.

    • Press the ENTER button.

    • Select Self Diagnosis and then press the ENTER button.

    • Select Sound Test by using the Up / Down arrow buttons

    • Press the ENTER button

    2. Checking the connectors:

Regarding the connectors, consider the suggestions below.
    • Make sure the connectors are connected properly and are not loose.

    • Ensure the HDMI-connection-enabled devices you connect to your LED TV are supporting HDMI version 1.3 or higher. Some HDMI cables of lower version may cause abnormal sound or no sound at all.

    • If you use a DVI connection cable, connect it to the HDMI IN 1 (DVI) jack. In this case you need an extra audio cable connected to the PC / DVI AUDIO IN jack on the back of the TV.

    3. Adjusting the Equalizer and SRS TruSurround HD:

To adjust the Equalizer and SRS TruSurround HD, please proceed as follows.
    • Press the MENU button button on the TV's remote control.

    • Select Sound by using the Up / Down arrow buttons
    • Press the ENTER button.

    • Select Equalizer by using the Up / Down arrow buttons.

    • Press the ENTER button and select the settings to be adjusted by using the Left / Right arrow buttons . Then press the Up / Down arrow buttons to move the slider on the bar.

    • Press the ENTER button to save the settings.

    • In the Sound menu, select SRS TruSurround HD by using the Up / Down arrow buttons

    • Press the ENTER button, and then use the Up / Down arrow buttons to turn the function On / Off.

    • Press the ENTER button to save the setting.
