Would an 850 PSU can handle with GTX 580 in SLI

Hello guys I am using core i7 965 @ 3750 MHZ (25x 150 @1.35v) with GeForce GTX 580 (x2) graphic card. And my memory is Corsair Dominator 6144 MB (3x 2048 MB) DDR3 @ 1600 MHz CAS7 1T. My power supply unit is 1200 Watt with the Dell 3007 WFP- up to 2560x1600. With this all hardware settings I am using windows 7 x 64 operating system. But now one question arrives in mind that is, would 850 psu handle GTX 580 SLI. I try to find about it on internet but no success so please share your knowledge with us. Thank you.

A stock speeds, yes, but if it comes to building a high-end PC with 580 overclocked SLI you cannot. I7 overclock a system with slightly overclocked even some 580s can pull 750 to 800 watts at full load with simplicity. That 95% of the maximum of 12v power supply that is prepared to handle when new. It would be not possible to drive carefully SLI GTX 480 three way power sources of 850 watts. The card can only munch through 750 watts or more.

Let's do the mathematical calculation, because you do not realize how much energy a system can be used if gtx580 overclocking everything. OECD i7 4.0 can consume 200 watts, a GTX 580 SLI in action you can use over 250 watts and 300 watts a piece of a piece with a decent oc. then a high-end motherboard, RAM, HD DVD and would be an additional 100 watts. More than 850 watts with the whole thing overclocked. I hope now you are clear with this thank you.

Hello I want to share some information with you. If you overclock the CPU or video cards or even both, you will not have enough power and will experience random reboots, BSODs and, possibly, loss of data. Are asked as part of a watt 850 (though the golden record) the power supply for this type of configuration of the setup of monster. Be smart and take at least a power of 1 kilowatt. Power always buys a little more than you need and not buy just enough to work.

It all depends on overclocking. The dissimilarity with a 3.8 to 4.0 i7 is an additional 75 watts or more power. Overclocking a gtx580 can add an additional 50 to 75 watts or more for each one. Those are the facts again if he will make some high overclocking, then you know that the PSU is not enough. And it is ignorant to say, the power supply 850 watts is the best option just for the reason that you determined not to overclock as high and preserve the power supply to be 90-95% at its maximum. Once you show you the math to prove it.

Well 850 watts is what your power supply is able to switch, but fortunately it will offer a maximum of 840 watts on the 12v. Seeing as most of the load line will 850 watt PSU 12v many others have been rubbish without a robust 12V line. Even 750 watts is also pushing its power supply to 90% of what was qualified to handle the new and ideal conditions. With some decent overclocking affect peaks right at the limit of what the power supply can handle. If it was very unstable in the GTX 580 cards with a little extra voltage then no doubt that he would be beaten peaks above what your power supply was designed to handle.
