Which is the best graphic card for 1680 x 1050 gaming purpose

I am planning to get a new monitor as my current one has started to give some problems. So my next buy will be definitely be a 22 inch monitor. Now my current card that I am using is an old card so I was just wondering if that will be enough when I get my new monitor. So I think that I need to get new card along with the monitor. So it would be great if you all suggest me some nice graphic card for 1680 x 1050 gaming purpose. And I will be using 4GB of RAM in the near future.

I think that 320 MB of video RAM would be sufficient and it should be fine playing games at around low to medium range. I can easily use a 1680x1050 at 24bit color with 4 GB of video RAM. Actually it all depends on what you run. Also depend on the type of games you play. If you play games such as UT2004, Half Life 2 and CSS then it is but with games such as Crysis, Bad Company 2, Quake 4 then it may not go sown that well. At 1680x1050 along with 1GB is going to be a good amount and you can get cards like the HD6850 with 1GB for a reasonable price. It will also help you to increase in performance.

Hey I had used the HD6850 for a while and it didn’t give me a good response. I think that you should go for nvidia for gaming purpose. It is a very good card and will be very useful to you. I am sure that the HD6850 will definitely not live up to your needs at 1680x1050.Both the 6850 and the 5850 will make you feel happy. However they won’t do that great when you are playing games like Crysis or Bad Company 2.while playing such games you need to turn some settings down. So this is the issue with this card.

Actually it all depends on the type of game that you will play. But I would suggest you to go for the Radeon 6850 1GB which gives an excellent output. It will do well for which ever game you play. I am suggesting you this because I had used it. I have that running at the resolution that you are saying and it's really awesome. I can play majority of games at max settings and 4x AA. So for me it is really a good buy and I would suggest you to go for the same.

There are many options for which you can go for. There is the GTX460 and HD5850 with above versions too. I had a GTX285 and an HD5870 at that resolution and both play great. But I think that the 5870 plays a bit better. Also there are a few other options like the Radeon HD 6850 and 6870. Also there are the GTX 460 and GTX 560.All this would be your best bet. So if you look at it there are many such option for you to choose from .But always remember that go for a best option.

I know few people who really like this Radeon HD 6850 card. According to me the non OC version of this card is better and it uses standard VRM. Actually if you look at it deeply it’s a bit weird that the OC version uses nonstandard part which can’t be controlled without the over volt programs. Also the buying of card depends on what kind of CPU and PSU you are running. So finally it all depends on you on which one to buy.
