The GeForce GTX 460 a new offshoot of the GeForce GTX 400 series. The special feature of the card is that it no longer on the GF100 ( GTX480, GTX 47 0 and GTX 465 ) but on a newly developed chip (GF104) is that the claims in the performance segment has been developed specifically for. The GTX 460 is available in two variants, one with 768 MB version and a version with 1024. The differences in the storage facilities are not the only differences. The 768MB model also has only a 192-bit wide memory interface and 24 ROPs. The 1024 MB version has a 256 bit wide, and SI has 32 ROPs. The number of shader units and the clock rates are identical for both cards.

According to my measurements, real consumption at full capacity is around 215 watts for announcing NVIDIA, while the maximum temperature that we recorded using an infrared thermometer on the hottest area of the printed circuit board is nearly 70 degrees , a figure very similar to that thrown by the GeForce GTX 480 and Radeon HD 5970. So the Zotac NVIDIA Geforce GTX 470 will be one of the best choice for you.

The new GeForce GTX 400 GPU features the same as its big sisters, the GF100. If it is clocked at the same frequency as in version GeForce GTX 470 (607 MHz), he was however reduced by a few additional units. Thus, it has only 11 active on multiprocessor 16 (against 15 for the GTX 480 and GTX 14 for 470) with 352 "cores", and its memory bus is reduced to 256 bits, resulting in mechanically reducing the number of ROPs at 32.

In terms of internal organization, the GF100 is a reminder consisting of 4 large main blocks, each containing the GPCS 4 multiprocessors (SMs). Multiprocessors with 5 less on the GPU in the GeForce GTX 465, Nvidia said that a complete GPC is disabled and one of three remaining GPCS is seen amputated a multiprocessor or 4/4/3/0. Coarsely so it's a configuration similar to the GeForce GTX 480 but with a GPC less. According to reports we received, there are other configurations (4/3/2 / 2 for example), a detail that nevertheless may affect performance slightly. Nvidia has however said that it was not correct and that all GF100 dedicated to the GeForce GTX 465 did have a type configuration 4/4/3/0.
