The Radeon HD 5970 is a kind 5850th Radeon HD 5870 X2 with the clock rates of Raden HD That is two GPU with full number of cores Stream (Shader units), ie 1600 pieces times two. More technical details for the Radeon HD 5000 series we have in our test of the Radeon HD 5870 reviewed. In principle, said there also apply for the HD 5970th. However, a card with two RV870 GPUs and the clock speeds of the Radeon HD 5870 would consume too much power and so one has apparently lowered the clock speeds in AMD clearly so as to push the consumption. Initial information can be seen that the Radeon HD 5970 with 725 MHz core clock and 1000 MHz memory clock running.

Recently AMD has released two new graphics processing units, they could be the starting point for a new generation of these cards. The models were known as Ati Radeon HD 6850 and 6870. In regard to design, we find very similar to the model Rodeon Ati HD 5850, but a new architecture makes them much more accessible. What has not changed is that they are still based on DirectX 11 (OpenGL 4.0), but the firm has worked and greatly improved antialiasing by incorporating anti-aliasing technology, achieving a more realistic appearance. The perfect hardware tessellation, to automatically reduce the details of distant objects.

The specification of systems is different from those familiar with the Radeon HD 5870 and HD 5850 In terms of the number of rendering pipelines, and unified processing unit corresponds to the Radeon HD 5870, which is their 1932 and 1600 respectively for each system - a total of 64 and 3200 for the card. In terms of frequency are compatible with the HD 5850 - the rate is 725 MHz. Each system has a separate GDDR5 RAM with a capacity of 1024 MB (2048 MB total) working on the data bus width of 256 bits. Operating frequency is 4000 MHz memory, or as in HD 5850

When it comes to graphics accelerator, one thing that always bothered me is the lack of reference to say what we might call the video card "mainstream" because - thanks to the marketing of AMD and Nvidia. We all know what's more best (and expensive) market, leaving our creative minds to figure out what would be a good compromise between price and performance, which throws us many times in the well of souls filled with old and new models of full five-digit numbers and packages of rough-looking monsters, warriors, full of tips and scantily-clad maidens of sheet metal.

The cooling system of the Ati radeon hd 5970 looks the same as that of the single-chip Radeon with the fact that the card is from them a few inches longer. Encased radiator takes the heat from the circuits and memory. On the back put the fan airflow, which is pushed through the holes in the card herring. During testing, the fan worked quite quietly, even under load, but clearly louder than the single-chip cards. It is worth noting that the heat sink and enclosure cards are very much dissipated. The large emissions of heat reflected unfavorably on the practicality of the card - the need to put holes in the middle of the surface heat herring meant that did not fit him so much go out like the pages of single-chip. The holder of the Radeon HD 5970 has to be satisfied with two DVI outputs and one micro DisplayPort. Lacked additional HDMI (you can get them using the special adapter supplied with the cards of this type), and the holders of cables with large connectors DP will have to buy an adapter.
