Well I have been facing the same issue you are facing right now , I had two desktops at my home, Installed the 460 graphic card installed in my machine in which I had installed inteli7 920 processor and had 6GB which worked on windows 7 professional edition and It was working fine with it. I took the other graphic card and installed in the other system which was similar to your configuration.

You had mentioned that first you were using the 460 drivers in your system and it was running very well in your system and according to above post you have not made the necessary changes in your system after installing the new graphic card , but the most important step is to run a driver sweeper of the the graphic card being installed in your system . This step is followed so that there is now impact of the previous driver being installed on the freshly installed driver in the system .

I think you would have forgot to mention about the upgradation changes being done mentioned . I t would suggest you to mention a operating system installation again , you said you have Windows 7 operating installed in your system , so accordingly you should also upgrade the drivers of your 9400gt graphic card as well. So do as directed and let me know the latest results of it.
