Will GTX 580 run on 550 Watts?

Hey guys, I have recently brought my computer and I am planning to put Geforce GTX 580. I don’t know whether it is compatible for my PC or not? Configuration of my PC is as follows:
    6 GB 2000 MHz DDR3
    -Intel i7 980x
    -Asus Rampage III Extreme
    -550 Watts PSU
I don’t know whether this configuration is compatible for Geforce GTX 580 or not? I f it is not then how would it make compatible? If you have any information about this query than please let me know.

I think you should try for 800 Watts instead of 550 Watts this is will boost GPU. You will require minimum 250 watts in second card. You should be aware that when we compared to standard computer GTX 580 will be using more than 50 to 100 Watts. There are basically two adapter one of an 8 pin and other of 6 pin. The second card uses 250 Watts which is used so that the total may be of 900 watts. I think that you need to change your PSU rest all the configuration is good.

Looking at your configuration I think you have a good processor. I7 processor is very good for GTX 580 where the overclocked setup needs to be 3.75 GHz. I also agree that PSU is very less as, for better performance and good compatibility between your system and GTX 5890 is very much necessary. I think in first card it should be around 650 watts and in second it should be around 250 watts which overall will be around 900 watts which is the best PSU for your system. I think you should change your PSU to 900.

My suggestion is that if you are going for GTX 580 then you should go for 900+ watts PSU which will boost your system and will be able to match with the compatibility of GTX 550. I also think that you have a very easy point to find change in your system. If you are going for GTX 580 then you should definitely change your PSU to 900+ watts which increase your performance and will be compatible when you are using GTX 580. I will advise you to increase your PSU rest all will match with GTX 580.

Even, I think that you should increase your PSU to 900 watts which will be compatible to GTX 580. If you have a good configuration which is compatible to GTX 580 then you may no problem while using it. There have been some cases where the configuration was not compatible but they managed to run the program, at last it ended by crashing itself. I think that you should have a very configuration in order to avoid such problem.
