Graphics card for gaming at 2048x1152

I am currently running an Intel core i7 920 along with the 6Gb memory and the GTX 260. I have run the game at the resolution of 1920x1080 but what i would be needing to run the games at 2048x1152. I mean to say which graphic card i need to use on my system to play the games with the resolution of 2048x1152.

Virtually all display port -> DVI adapters are single link. Because these adapters are purely mechanical and that's not at all different:
    • DVI single link: 3 pairs of wires for data
    • DVI Dual-Link: 6 line pairs for data
    • Display Port: 4 line pairs for data

However, I know that you also get the full resolution of 2048 x 1152 with reduced blanking of the single-link. And even if the monitor does not communicate via EDID, so it looks to me like as if all the components (video card, driver) feed with a custom resolution.

I wonder how in such a resolution is crooked and on which device (the aspect ratio is either 4:3, 5:4, 16:9, 16:10) you want to represent this. You have to understand that the graphics cards and their drivers based on the EDID data, get it from the screen or display device. I do not know a screen that appears with 2048x 1152, resulting in the first place, to ensure that the resolution under Windows (and Linux) can not choose directly. In the nVidia display options of the newer drivers will therefore be an option to define custom resolutions. If you have created them, you can select this and the monitor / display unit displays. Depending whether to display the same content on both screens or one screen with an extended example, 4096 x 1152 (2x 2048 x 1152 = horizontal).

1 - The first models that came out in the 6000 series are not high-end models but that could qualify for a higher average gamer. These are not models that should sell around $ 500. Current prices seem to play in Canada around $ 200.00 for 6850 and 250 $ -300 $ for 6870.
2 - ATI had accustomed us to a model whose identification differed only by the first digit is a model of the new series with a performance superior to that of the previous range with the same 3 digits. For example, a 6870 should have been higher than a 5870.

First representative of the range HD 6000 and Radeon HD 6870 incorporates all the key points of the previous generation DirectX 11 Eyefinity control and advanced energy management. With its 25 cm long, the Radeon HD 6870 is closer to a 5850 than an HD 5870. The sink is a "double height" and expels the hot air out of the box. The card is very quiet at rest with a whisper rather discrete. In 3D games, the fan runs faster and becomes quite noisy as to become annoying to those around you while you play. The heater is always so well controlled that the Radeon HD 5000 since there are essentially the same values: about 40 ° C idle and 88 ° C in 3D gaming.
