I am experiencing a problem with a HP Compaq Laptop and a ATI Radeon X1250 IGP video driver. I had this in the shop and it seems when the driver/even a "new" driver is installed the computer starts and gets to login and then once it starts loading everything it shuts down. If we disable the video driver it runs well. The problem I have is 2 fold. One~I can live with this for awhile but I have a 22" wide monitor hooked to it through a docking station and I can't get a good resolution. Everything is distorted on screen and it has to be kept in the 1200x1000's (don't remember the exact resolution) If I put it to the 1600's my monitor freaks and says it is wrong and needs to be readjusted. Is there anyway to get a better vgasafe resolution for the external monitor.
Two~does anyone know (you can guess) if a new wipe and fresh reload will take care of this or do you think it is a video card itself. Any and all help would be great
Thanks
