Graphics card for gaming purpose(5770 vs 5850 vs gtx 470)?

I am using one Acer aspire laptop. I purchased it just last month and I am basically using this laptop for my office use but I am very big fan of gaming on laptop. I want to buy one new graphic card and I am very much confused that which one is the best graphic card. I have some option like ATI Radeon™ HD 5770,5850 and Nvidia GeForce GTX 470. If you people have any idea about these graphic card please share with me on this thread. And also mention here about specification of every card and also price. I am not going for crossfire or SLI , I will use only one card. Provide me your good experience here

It’s not your mistake dear because everybody gets confused about the choice of graphic cards. Graphic card choice depends on the device configuration. Here you have given three options and I feel that ATI 5770 is better than other because this card is very cheaper with very good performance. As you said that you purchased your laptop recently its means you may be having all latest feature on your laptop. ATI is very good directx 11 crad, it has 128 bit memory interface. ATI 5850 is also better but its price is all most double of 5770 but it has 256 bit memory and its has excellent vid card.

Here one more option is also about GTX 470 and its price is about $50.00 but some people consider that ATI 5850 is better choice as compare to GTX 470 IMHO. From my point of view if you really want one good card than you should chose 5770 and but if you have good vid card already available. This card will let you play some new game with some max setting. But overclocking is big risk with your system. But if you have $300.00 to spend then you should go with 5850. It will allow you to play any game without any settings. I will not personally consider you card 470

I also have some doubts for my graphic cards and I have very small budget for my machine and I also have to buy one new machine. I have to manage all these things in my budget. I searched for this on Google and right now I have two choices one is ATI 5770 with AMD 955 processor and other one is ATI 5850 with AMD 435. I very confused here for my choice. Will AMD 435 be botllenecked by the 5850? Give me your suggestion also consider price when giving suggestion here. Thanks

Ok friend I read your query and it’s very interesting. Choice of graphic card is very much depend on your machine configuration only graphic cannot handle all the pressure. Its depend like AMD phenom II X4 995 will perform better as compare to AMD 435 on CPU related activities. So overall its depend which game you like to play and how is your machine performing. Otherwise you can go for AMD Phenom II X$ 945 and use HD ATI 5830 but look for budget also.

If you are planning for AMD 955 processor than I will advise you for ATI HD 5770 graphic card. This card is very good even in high resolution also, and get good processor CPU also in this choice and later on you can also upgrade your GPU. But before going for this card you should also to be noted something here that is HD 5770 price is $160 which is 38% cheaper than the HD 5850 but it’s also has almost half memory of HD 5850. The core configuration of the 5770 is also about 46% lighter, featuring fewer stream processor units, texture address and rasterization operator units.

You give me only 2 choices here and what I think that if you are planning to buy AMD 435 rana then you should use ATI 5850 and if you want everything here then you should chose AMD 955 with 5770 crad. I have personally experienced on AMD 435 and I made it unlocked and overcloked to 3.6 Ghz with a cheap $20.00 cooler. And about your CPU then IMO is the best CPU for the money even if you are not able to make it unlock. One thing always keep in your mind that overclocking creates the problem of overheating. So avoid all this bcz it can destroy your CPU.

I do not like performance of nvidia cards, I personally use only ATI card and here on this thread I have only one brand choice that is ATI. So I will give you advice about only ATI cards. If you are able to unlock CPU you will turn into an X4 B35 w/0 the L3 cache. Maybe 4/5% slower than a 955 in gaming but to be honest the Rana can do 3.3/3.4Ghz on the stock cooler depending on ambient or 3.6/3.7Ghz with a nice sink. The 5850 will do fairly fine even if you do not unlock, I play games sometimes with only 3 cores to keep temps down @ around 3.8/3.9Ghz and I am VERY pleased with the results.
