I have also faced this but it is happened with me like 2 or 3 month back regarding the time I am not that much sure. You are able to try the HDMI port to get the 2560x1600 resolution it will only possible if your monitor supports it. I could find my HDMI port to display 1920x1200 resolutions on my 24" monitor. So try this I think it will help you. |

Here actually I want to tell you that the maximum output on the HDMI port is 1920x1200. Actually I came to know that from the google one of my friend was looking for this answer so that is why I have searched a lot on this then I came to know about it. The highest output on VGA even if may be slightly upper. This is true for about all laptops. |

I want to tell you that it is simply it are not true. So that is why for the newer amendment of HDMI (1.3+), the pass with flying colors resolution is 2560x1600. I hesitation VGA can go as high. I have got this information from my uncle who is a software designer. So this helps me in my case. So I hope it will help you a lot. |

I have little bit information regarding this so I hope I will help you in your case. Actually If is not able to done through HDMI, then obtain a USB to HDMI that be able to do 2560x1600. Actually in Sony states that first one is that Max. External Display Resolution via HDMI™ ouput/cable : 1920 x 1080 other one is that Max. External Resolution via DVI : 1920 x 1200. So you just try this I hope it will help you. |

Can you tell me in more detail regarding this it means? Does this mean that we will never get more than 1920 x 1080 out of the hdmi port? What will happen if the cable is HDMI to dvi-d? Actually I am planning to buy an eizo FlexScan S2402W which has 1920 × 1200, and required to be familiar with if I was able to use the maximum res. Any way whatever you have told here, it helps me in little bit extent. |

Yes, I mean that you should go in that way. I have done this a lot of time, and I assure you that you will be fine while doing this. The reason I am suggesting this is because, I think that it will help you in a better way. If you run that it will get install. After the installation to make sure that they are installed just go to device manager and check from there. And from there manage your setting. |
