Two Radeon HD 5870 with 2 GB

The Radeon HD 5870 from ATI's been a long time on the market and got with the GeForce GTX 400 series now finally compete in performance. Not least for this reason, recently sprouted ever more interesting variants of the single-GPU ATI's flagship in the market. In order to take this into account, we have already looked at some Radeon HD 5870 models, which we liked so far the PowerColor Radeon HD 5870 PCS + the most. I am here to know about the Asus Radeon HD 5870 Sapphire Radeon HD matrix and the 5870 Toxic 2GB. Anyone knowing about this topic, please feel free to post your information over here.

The black colored PCB of Asus Radeon HD 5870 Matrix is a complete personal development and measures a length of 27.5 cm, which is interestingly a little longer than the designs of other manufacturers that come to about 25.5 cm. A look into one's own body is required before purchase so as soon block a component installation. Two eight-pin power connector is required for proper operation of the graphics card.

The cooling system of the Asus Radeon HD 5870 Matrix makes a powerful impression on the front is mounted a cooling plate that takes up most of the board. A plastic cap reinforces the powerful impression. At the end of the video card is the buyer before a 75 mm in diameter, large radial fan which is actively managed on a regime. If desired, the fan controller to be changed manually to reduce the volume, or to improve the cooling performance. On the back of an additional cooling plate is installed, the built-up there is to keep the GDDR5 memory on low temperatures.

Under Windows, the Asus Radeon HD 5870 is clocked down to 157 MHz matrix, so as to save electricity. The 2048 MB of GDDR5 memory, which is manufactured by Samsung is working, then another at 600 MHz. Under load, the RV870 GPU is clocked up to 900 MHz, 50 MHz faster than the reference design. The memory works at 2400 MHz then, exactly the same speed as a standard model. On the bracket, the buyer of DVI, HDMI and Display Port connector finds - Eyefinity with up to three monitors is possible (albeit one different from usual, must have HDMI). A "safe mode" button can set the frequency and voltage of the graphics card after a failed modification back to the default values.

As usual in a matrix card, there is the special Asus Radeon HD 5870 with iTracker2 software, therefore, to provide to the buyer a powerful tool in the hand. This software makes it possible not only to increase the frequencies, but also to raise the voltages of the GPU and memory. Similarly, the fan control manually adjust according to your own wishes. The cable features the Asus Radeon HD 5870 matrix consists of a DVI to D-Sub, a DVI to HDMI adapter, and two (eight-pin, 2x 6-pin). Even a CrossFire Bridge is one of the party. The software inserts are limited, unfortunately, a driver CD including Asus's proprietary tools such as the second iTracker In addition, there is a CD wallet.

The blue-colored PCB, the Sapphire Radeon HD 5870 Toxic measures a length of 25.5 cm and is about the same length as the designs of other manufacturers. The reference design, however, is somewhat longer. However, it should take before any potential buyers a look at its own housing, whether or not a component or prevented, for example, a SATA connector installation. The graphics card required for running a six-pin and one eight-pin power connector, while the reference design still manages with two six-pin power plugs.

The dual-slot cooling system (with the well-known Vapor-X technology) makes a massive impression. The heart is a cold plate of aluminum is favorable, in which a cooling block is embedded in copper, which sits directly on the RV870 GPU. The other side of the cooling plate is covered with numerous fins, which will dissipate the heat quickly emerging. Similarly, there are three heatpipes that are connected to the GPU block and the fins. How to become accustomed to the cooler is moved here by a plastic sheath. Centered on the cooling system in a large diameter 85 mm axial fan is placed, is actively controlled by a controller - while leaving behind a very good figure.

Under Windows, clocked the GPU of the Radeon HD 5870 Toxic down to 157 MHz, so as to save electricity. The same goes for the big 2048 MB GDDR5 memory, which is still working at 600 MHz. Under load, the computational core clocked up to 925 MHz, 75 MHz over the reference design. The memory is then 2450 MHz, 50 MHz more controlled than normal. On the bracket of the Radeon HD 5870 Toxic finds the buyer the usual two dual-link DVI, one HDMI and a DisplayPort output, which Eyefinity with up to three monitors is easily possible. As an accessory sets Sapphire DVI to D-SUB with two power adapters (4-pin to 6 pin PCIe and 2x6-pin to 8-pin PCIe) and one CrossFire Bridge in the box. The accessory consists of a software driver CD, and ArcSoft SimHD - to a game of the producer gives up unfortunately.

Re: Two Radeon HD 5870 with 2 GB

All benchmarks are run with maximum details, so the graphics card will be charged as high as possible. As settings, we have decided for us in 1280x1024 (slow cards), 1680x1050, 1920x1200 and 2560x1600 (the last two resolutions only with appropriately fast video cards). We pay tribute to the modern high-end accelerators tribute that will make their computing power lower CPU limited resolutions. Besides the pure resolutions, we let the benchmark route with four-times (and if possible go through eight times) Anti-aliasing and 16 times the anisotropic filter. TSSAA (Nvidia) or AAA (ATI) for smoothing alpha test textures we use due to compatibility problems, not in our benchmark.

Re: Two Radeon HD 5870 with 2 GB

After the veteran 3DMark06 a few years under his belt and is therefore not only the graphic now has a little dusty, but also the CPU limit is becoming more noticeable with fast graphics cards, it was high time for a successor. The Finnish manufacturer Futuremark has accordingly after a long wait, the 3DMark Vantage to the market that has been programmed in advance for the Direct3D 10 API. Graphically, the two game tests accordingly offer much for the eye, which can bring especially the second test highlights. With FP16 HDR, Depth of Field, Parallax Occlusion Mapping, a physical simulation on the GPU, different shader effects and much more of the 3DMark Vantage 3D hardware brings problems to the capacity limit.
