    9800GX2 Overheating 100C+

I had overclocked my GeForce 9800 GX2 graphic card. It worked well for sometime and then after that it is getting hot. In CPUTemp it showing up 100 degree. I had at that time shutdown my pc for sometime to make my system cool. But still I had noticed that my GPU is getting heated. I don't want to burn this out fully. I need some help on this. I want to add up a liquid to that. What you suggest for the same.

The best way is to remove the graphic card and then put it back again. Check that the fan of the GPU is working fine. Update your graphic drivers and then see again. If still the same issue occurs then you might need to update your BIOS for the same. I think you does not have a equipped hardware in your system which is enough capable to meet the oveclocking. Do not try the same again.

Temperatures are normal, although the graphics card is indeed a bit hot sometime. But if the temperatures gives above 100 degrees then the system freezes. To test the processor you can use programs like OCCT, SuperPi, etc. Check the stability of the system. For the graphics card you can test it with 3DMark06. Try to remove the GPU and put the same in a different slot. Change the GPU fan.

Check that your system has enough ventilation so that heat can be taken out. The GPU usually does not get heated so much. 100 degree is really high temperature and this can permanently fry out your processor. It mainly happens when your GPU fans fails to work properly. It is damaged or not working due to which i is not taking the heat out from your system. Just replace that.

If you have a fan connected to the GPU then just touch and see it must be heated. If yes then you must need to change that. For the GPU it is too hot. You must not overclock your GPU back again. Update your graphic card firmware first and then check back again. Changing slot in your motherboard sometime works here. Add a liquid cooling support in your system.

It is better if you add a liquid cooling support on that. The range of coolers is the most extensive with hundreds of models. There is everything from radiators fins, with or without heat pipes, equipped with one or more fans 60, 70, 80, 92 or 120 mm diameter. The forms are more or less designed for efficiency, more or less cured and the installation more or less easy. The choice is difficult and often leads to a compromise between price, performance and noise, besides the physical compatibility.

It is better to first check the socket which is a connector that attaches the processor before buying the liquid cooling. It is necessary for the product compatibility. In fact, each processor family with its own socket. The number identifying a socket also corresponds to the number of pins which equips the corresponding processor. In addition to this complexity up a notch because the ranges of the same name have been produced for different sockets.
