ATI Catalyst 8.8 Drivers for Windows XP x64 and BluRay

I have recently built a new home theater pc at my home with AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+, Gigabyte GA-890GPA-UD3H motherboard and HD 4860 graphics card. I have Windows XP 64 bit installed on my computer. I also have bluray disk. I went to AMD website to download my graphic card drivers and it showed Catalyst 8.8. But the problem is that I am unable to play Bluray disk with this setup. I use free Cyberlink software to play the disk. Is there anyone who can help me in this matter?

It is the fact that Windows XP x64 does not have much support to most of the software etc. This is one of the reason why 64 bit version of Windows XP is not so popular among Windows users. However Microsoft is working on providing media support including bluray for Windows Vista and XP. I have no idea when it will be available for download but just check it out.

I am sorry to inform you that Windows XP x64 do support ATI Catalyst 8.8 driver provided you have the appropriate graphics card for it. ATI Catalyst 8.8 driver support only Radeon series card including Radeon HD 4850, 4870 and 4870 X2. So I think your card is not supported by that driver. Its better if you try some different card just to make sure what I said is correct.

ATI Catalyst display 8.8 driver for Windows XP 64bit brings Avivo video features. With this new feature you will find dynamic Gamma/Contrast correction, available on the ATI Radeon HD 4800 Series, that improves video image quality by delivering more vivid color in content with sharp contrasts and scenes with low and bright images. It provides Windows XP Edge enhancement support which adjusts the level of sharpness of video content and Noise Reduction and removes ghosting artifacts while preserving details of the original video.

I have tested it with my Windows XP 64 bit computer and I never noticed this problem. I settled on 29 for edge enhancement. Thus I had sharper images during the gameplay. I also never noticed any noise or flickering problem during video playback. I even calibrated it even lower to reduce all the black lines in the screen and it worked great. Thus it benefited me a lot.
