It is the Radeon HD 5870 1 GB to less than 130 4 and HD 4890 for little more. If the Radeon HD 5850 will be sold at $ 240, it would be better than its performance is worth the expense. Additional element, Nvidia offers graphics cards especially fast in the same price range: the GTX 275, for example, is available from about 190 $ and you can even find GTX 285-280 $, which is not bad at all for the fastest single-GPU designs the brand's Chameleon.

When ATI launched the Radeon HD 4770 at less than $ 100 , we could not resist the temptation compare a tandem of two of these cards to the Radeon HD 4890 and GeForce GTX 285 to. The Radeon HD 5870, however, is much more expensive, a pair of these cards cost about $ 500, the only card approaching that price level is the GeForce GTX 285. It costs about $ 300 and has not seen its price fall despite the launch of the new AMD platform Cypress (to be honest, the fact that stocks of HD 5870 is still very limited there is probably some thing).

The ATI Radeon HD 5870 announced a return to the front of the stage for ATI. With the 5xxx series, ATI offers the first DirectX11 compatible cards. The HD 5870 and the other cards in the family just shake the hierarchy of performance from propel maps of the new range at the top of the table. With over 19,000 items Futuremark, the ATI Radeon HD 5870 comes dethrone the high-end Nvidia offering performance equal to a price significantly lower power consumption and better mastered. ATI seems to catch up on Nvidia thanks to this new series, it only remains to wait for the response from Nvidia.

I wish that we display comparisons in order to reflect the situation, but here you propose graphs that compare two desktop solutions. And even though I know you're a supporter of ATI, maybe it's not worth it to mix everything together for mobile platforms today have nothing to do with desktop solution. So maybe you want to show that ATI knows better manage its Anti Aliasing nVidia on desktop card, OK. But we can not under any circumstances use this chart to gauge the level of performance between HD 5870 and GTX 285 mobility.

I agree, but the difference between a GTX 285 and HD 5870 (Desktop) may not be comparable to that which exists between their mobile counterparts because their architectures are different. To clarify, a mobile GPU has nothing to do with a desktop GPU of the same name, especially for nVidia. For disadvathages, I highly recommend the HD 5870 which impressed me more because it comes from a new manufacturing process because of its fine engraving 40nm TDP and who actually seem to be well 50W. This explains the price, because at 40nm there must be more waste.

I am neither pro-ATI nor nVidia-Pro, but I am "Pro-evolution" and then falls asleep nVidia squarely on his or at least that's what it suggests for ATI since 18 months, not only caught up but nVidia is being upstaged him. Remember the HD 3870 mobility, She had not measure up to the GeForce 8800M GTX. But nVidia has hardly changed over the transition to the 9800M GTX and its GTX 280m. While ATI has literally flown, so I'm very much for this HD 5870 mobile but I expect even more from nVidia. By cons I fear for him, he wallows as miserably with its GeForce FX . While waiting, so much promise and so much disappointment to finish! I hope they will re not the same error at nVidia.
