Hd 4870 x2 ati catalyst glitch? Plz Help

I have notice some sever driver bug since I installed ATI Catalyst 10.1. It doesn't display my 2 gpu setup but instead I can see only one. Also I have 3 card displayed in the ATI tray with ATI Radeon HD 4870 x2 although I have just one. I tried reinstalling the older drivers but still have the same problem. I also did a complete reinstall of Windows Vista but that to didn't helped. Another problem that I have is that when I go to windows desktop and click on personalize, I have 3 monitors displayed on it although there is only monitor. What should I do to resolve this problem?

4870x2 is just one card and so you have it displayed as 1. It just have 2 gpus and so it is not showing you 2 graphics card. However I am not sure about this though because I have never used an x2 card. Just confirm about this with your hardware person. Did you unlocked your card by clicking on padlock? If not then try it. Talking about ATI tray, it completely depends on your monitor card connections. I think your card should consists of 3 connections and so the result.

Thank you for the suggestions but I have unlocked my 4870x2 card and it just shows 1 gpu in Overdrive. However when I look into Device Manager on my Windows Vista computer, it states that the card has 2 gpu. It is also tells us that it is working properly. If that's true then what is the reason for my ATI catalyst problem.

I agree with Warrior because I too have a similar issue. Instead of 4870x2, I am using 5740 card. But I have "5700 series" listed 3 times each of which is having different problems. I have only one HDMI connection from the graphic card to the receiver. I have 10.2 drivers installed on my computer.

Don't misunderstand things? It shouldn't be 3 cards that you are getting, instead you must be having 3 display which is because it is displaying you one monitor per available port. Basically what happens is that there are display ports that are referred as primary, secondary and tertiary. But still if you have only one monitor then you would have one port to be working. The other will not work. So there should not be any glitch over here. I would recommend you to use GPUz to know what is the actual status.
