XFX 5870 backplate vs. no backplate temps

I have presently gotten approximately to install my EK block / backplate on my 5870; on the other hand I have a number of questions regarding the backplate. Initially, it's advertised on the site as 'EK-FC5850/5870 RAM Backplate' - It even has diminutive islands to cool RAM chips yet on the back of the card. Presently the one that comes on it, not certain how well that runs at dissipating heat if at the entire. I have tried upping the fan speed to 70% or additional at the same time as gaming. This is supposed to maintain the majority cards under 75c or more.

In view of the fact that the plate does not touch everything on the back of the card (it’s raised) you are not astonished. It’s not there for cooling, it’s there for stiffness to maintain the board instantly (at least that what the XFX rep told you). So taking it off almost certainly improved the airflow presently a diminutive. What’s the highest temp a cypress is able to/be supposed to take. You were wondering for a at the same time as, and for comparisons sake.

Motivating to observe the temps lower, almost certainly similar to others have said, superior airflow. Even though, you are a bit incredulous when it comes to statistics and if you request it, those temps are within the fringe of error, that's if you are asking them of course. (In concentrate, a slight alteration in ambient temp or something similar to that might cause that slight of a temp alteration, but then again, you have to guess there would not be that large of dissimilarity with or without the raised back plate would there.

Yes you might as well say no dissimilarity. On the other hand you applied the similar load, room thermometer demonstrate the similar ambient. So you let it fly. In addition if you make a note of the fan speed during the backplate test, the fan was working faster. Might have to try a static fan speed next time. You tend to make possible manual fan control and maintain your fan at 42% idle, an up the speed throughout gameplay/benchmarking depending on what you are working, you similar to maintain things south of 50C.

The backplate presents fortification for unintentional static electric shock too. And you are not fulfilled with that respond. You presently purchase 2 blocks + backplate for 5870. You do not locate anywhere this is merely for 2 gb version or the description. Where are the thermalpads if they are wanted /even if the plate is not required for the 1 gb version or the description.

You do not necessitate several thermal pads on the backplates, presently mount them on similar to you would with the obtainable ati backplate. On a side make a note of, the backplates in addition run with the heatkiller gpu-x3 58x0 blocks immediately utilize the screws provided with the backplate and do not twist in too stretched. You prepared that mistake Backplate for 1GB version is merely for the looks. If user has reference design 2GB version you are able to cool back RAMs but requirements to get 0,5mm thermal pads for back rams. As the backplate was completed when there were no 2 GB versions we determined not to encircle thermal pads.

You have two gtx 280 that gets sandwich simultaneously. The lower card goes bad again at the moment. You got that PSOD and then no signal. This is your r3d RMA card that has disappeared bad. Always the lower card that goes bad. It merely last for 2 weeks and you have been playing BC2 32 hours. You are thoughts the heat kill the ram or PCB. Even though the lower card gpu temps stay in the lower 80c's. You are wondering if there is a backplate to make use of on your card and where be able to you get it.
