    Diamond 5850 Xfire w/Asus 5870 Bios

    Hi,
I am trying two different cards on my system to test out weather which an be a better one in overclocking. I had tried the same on Xfire too. The first one is Diamond 5850 and the other one is 5870. I am going to get a new one among them. I had use some tools which showed that the 5870 is better if you have a updated bios on your system. It remains quiet stable. What you think for the same.

ATI offers a range of graphics cards and launches its series Radeon HD 5800. The 5870 is the first I had tested. I had found some positive points in performance, power consumption and heat. So that makes this one a bit reliable. In Xfire you can try out both but that need some configuration status. You must first analyze all the important points.

The Radeon HD 5870 1GB was a bit costly as per my in comparison to Radeon HD 4890 . I had gone through some test posted on internet and found that the 5870 is on average 30% better than 4890. This is an average performance and it happens that the card is able to beat or match more often, the Radeon HD 4870 X2 has two chips, however.

Yes that is right the potential of this new model is very interesting to know. The coming months will get their usual batch of optimizations and varied, which should widen the gap between the new and old graphics card brand. Compared to NVIDIA, the least we can say is that ATI is taking the first step of the podium in single-GPU card (= with a single chip). The GeForce GTX 285 is so far behind.

The best thing about 5870 is that it is more energy efficient. The energy management is also better controlled. At rest, the card is very efficient, by saving compared to a 50W HD 4870 and 10W compared to a GTX 285. In business, you find the same level as the two models mentioned. The heater also has been revised downwards, especially in 2D when we reach the excellent levels of the GTX 285.

This is also the first graphics card market to be compatible with DirectX 11. Such games are for the time being not yet available, but this does not delay the arrival of Windows 7, which provides native API. Radeon HD 5870 also support the EyeFinity which, as you had indicated, can extend the display across multiple screens in games or in applications.

The 5870 is bit too expensive for the moment, but more disturbing is that the flange 256 bit bus. Should it be to make a 5870 2GB but now I even know if it will make a difference, the 2GB will not be operated at 100% due to the small size of the bus or they take us out a 5870 or 5890 with V2 a bus 512 bits certainly more expensive but at least there the card would be fully expressed.
