Stock 5870 vs 5850 OC

Hello, Is there anybody with the Ati Radeon 5870 as i have the same on my computer system on which i have installed window vista 64 bit. I have seen few forums talking about an overclocked 5850 can match a stock 5870.
Actually i want to ask that what clocks it will take for a 5850 to match a 5870. You may get the results for below games.
3dMark 2006 & Vantage, Crysis or Crysis Warhead, Resident Evil 5 Benchmark,
World in Conflict.

I think the Ati Radeon 5850 would be behind anytime as compare to the Ati Radeon 5870 and it is obvious as 5870 costs much more then that of 5850. There are some around $100 difference between their prices. What else you can expect from the 5850 as it is almost equal to the 5870 but there would some differences such as overclocking of both of them.

If you are getting your ATI 5850 up to some around 950-1000MHz core and that too with the 4.8-5GHz memory then i guess it is very much equal to the overclocked ati 5870. I think at the same speed of clock, Card would be performing within 5% to each other. I suggest you to go with the 5850 as most of the people are opting it and it is worth it.

Here i have given you the stock for both the cards which you wish to know by this thread. But i do not think that it should be considerable while buying any one from these both the cards.

• 5850@stock = 14000 and 17000 @1000mhz gpu/1200mhz memory
• 5870@stock = 16000 and 18000 @1000mhz gpu/1200mhz memory

I have compared both of these cards and have found that they are not much different.
At 940/1200, I have found no difference for pixel fillrate, texture fillrate and memory bandwidth between the Ati 5850 and Ati 5870. I think it would be better if you buy 5850 as it will cost you $100 less then 5870.
